Cape Town: Minister Sindisiwe Chikunga in the Presidency for Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities, will deliver a keynote address during the Opening Plenary of the Women20 South Africa (W20SA) Inception Meeting.
The W20 is the official G20 engagement group focused on promoting gender equality and women’s economic empowerment. The 2025 Inception Meeting, hosted under the theme “Women in Solidarity”, marks 10 years of W20 and brings together over 100 global delegates representing government, business, academia, and civil society.
The two-day Inception Meeting marks the 10-year milestone of the Women20 (W20) as a G20 engagement group and will convene thought leaders, policymakers, and change-makers from across the globe to explore high-level interventions and innovative solutions to the challenges facing women today. The programme includes high-level plenaries, thematic panel discussions, targeted outreach engagements with rural, township and businesswomen in agriculture, and the launch of the official W20SA theme song. Delegates from across G20 member states will engage across seven key themes: entrepreneurship and financial inclusion; the care economy; gender-based violence and femicide; climate justice and the environment; education, STEM and the digital divide; health equity for women and girls; and women, land and agriculture.
