The Sustainable Finance Working Group (SFWG) aims to mobilise sustainable finance as a way of ensuring global growth and stability and promoting the transitions towards greener, more resilient and inclusive societies and economies. The group is tasked with identifying institutional and market barriers to sustainable finance, developing options to overcome such barriers, and contributing to a better alignment of the international financial system to the objectives of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Paris Agreement.

Formally re-established and upgraded from a study group to a working group in 2021, the SFWG developed a roadmap to focus the attention of the G20, international organisations, and other stakeholders to key priorities of the sustainable finance agenda and form consensus on key actions to be taken. Each member’s progress against the criteria established in the roadmap is published annually and is accessible to the public on the G20 SFWG website: https://g20sfwg.org/.
